The Premier Aircraft Cessna 170 is the evolution and accumulation of many years of design experience. The officially licensed Cessna 170 offers something for everyone. At its core, it is a forgiving general aviation aircraft with rough field capabilities. If desired, it also has the ability to kick up the power and offer a surprising level of aerobatic capability. It offers a perfectly balanced air-frame design combined with the included Aura 8, today’s most Advanced Flight Control System, yielding an unmatched flying experience. Pilots will feel smooth, predictable and precise aircraft control without any interference to pilot inputs. The aircraft’s extremely light, yet rigid air-frame will offer forgiving yet responsive flying characteristics! The Cessna 170 structure is hollow on the inside and has carbon fiber in key locations and the unique forward plywood structure secures the power system and makes it run very smooth, even at high power. Because it is EPO foam, it remains TOUGH and REPAIRABLE.

Flex Innovations has tuned and matched both the air-frame and the Aura 8 to their best potential. However, the Aura 8 programming capability allows the pilot total freedom to adjust all settings, including the flight modes (sensor control inputs can even can be switched off). The USB firmware update capability will allow you to benefit from the latest features and advancements without purchasing new equipment!

The Cessna 170 can accept a range of options, including floats for flying off of water and snow skis! The mechanism for glider towing is also included. While the aircraft excels at slow speed and back-country style flying including short takeoffs and landings from unimproved runways, our version is engineered to offer even more. If desired, the pilot can increase the voltage of the battery, and load a more extreme configuration into the Aura Flight Controller and take the flying to a whole new ‘extreme’ level!

Flite Test Reviews the Cessna 170!

  1. Richard Smith

I have purchased two Cessna 170’s. The first was RED and was a 5 star from the very start. Went together easily and everything fit well. Paint was good. The maiden flight was without issue and the plane flew very well. The second Cessna 170 was purchased about 1 1/2 years later and was Yellow. This plane had the proper color as it had many issues. Landing gear and float attach points were flooded with excess glue, preventing gear install. The cowl had bad blemishes. The left wing would not seat properly due to a misaligned guide in the wing. Paint was very bad with dark foam filler painted over with yellow. The dark filler showed through the yellow. Flex sent me a new cowl. Was able to obtain parts from Flex Innovation to mount floats. I needed the left wing and they sent me the right wing. Called Flex and they then sent the correct left wing replacement.
On the first flight, the ESC over-heated and shut down the motor after about 2 minutes of low to medium throttle. Made a safe water landing. The motor had a loose magnet that clicked as prop was spun. By this time, the warranty had expired. I repaired the loose magnet in the motor and replaced the defective ESC. Finally, the Yellow Cessna 170 now flies as well as my Red Cessna 170. Overall rating 5 star on the Red plane and 1 star on the yellow plane. Note: If you have an issue with an item or plane that you purchase from Flex Innovation, be prepared to show proof. In most cases, your word is not enough.

This airplane went together easily. The rudder mounting system and elevators are super easy. Radio programming is also very simple. The screws are typical China quality and will strip the heads if you don’t put a little bar soap on the threads before tightening. I will eventually replace them with hex head screws to make assembly at the field easier. Excellent value for the dollars spent!
